Katja Siegert Newman
CEO, Farmer's Daughter
Katja is a political scientist, consultant, and farmer’s daughter. She began her career in Washington, DC conducting democracy development programs and business consulting in Latin America. She and her husband Sam joined the family wine business in 2015. Katja attended Sonoma State’s Wine Entrepreneurship class with Werner and began an intense journey into the wine business. Like her mother, Katja enjoys collaborating with girlfriends, and luckily many have experience in marketing, branding, advertising, and enjoying wine. She created the La Cienega Roundtable and is immensely grateful for their help.
Werner Siegert
Founder, Proprietor
As a young boy after long hikes in the Vienna woods, our Vintner, Werner Siegert, and his family would spend many memorable evenings at local wineries or ‘Heurigens’ drinking estate wine and dining on local favorite foods. One vintner lamented that he didn't have a son to take over his winery and wanted Werner to consider running it one day. With a degree in business management, his career in marketing with Chevron took him first to Ecuador, then Singapore. But the idea of one day running a family vineyard had taken hold in young Werner’s mind - and became his life-long dream.
La Cienega Ladies Roundtable
#BoldWomen #Bold Reds
La Cienega Ladies Round Table is a group of professional women from Los Angeles and Northern California formed by Katja in May 2019 to help guide the marketing and promotion of our wine. These experts in advertising, branding, and social outreach are shaping our vineyard’s name and mission, targeting our core values of empowerment of women, sustainability, support for the Sonoma community, and diversity.
